Chapter 01
How a student appointment runs
Your appointment starts with a consultation: the student asks what you want, looks at any reference photos you brought, and talks through what's realistic for your hair in one visit. A licensed instructor checks that plan before any cutting or color begins.
The student does the work at their own pace, since they're still building speed as well as skill, and the instructor checks in as they go. Before you leave the chair, the instructor does a final finish check, so nothing goes out the door without a second, licensed set of eyes on it.
Color: bring photos, ask about it by phone
Color is the one service where a little preparation goes a long way. Bring photos of what you want, and photos of what your hair actually looks like right now if you can, so the student and instructor can plan the right process instead of guessing at the chair.
If you're not sure what you're after, call the front desk before you book. They'll walk you through it and give you a free estimate over the phone, so you have a real number before you commit to an appointment.
Chapter 03
Texture services take longer, plan for it
Perms, relaxers, smoothing treatments and keratin are chemical services that take longer than a cut or a color foil, both because the process itself has set timing and because a student is learning to manage that timing precisely.
Plan more time on the schedule than you would at a fast walk-in salon, and expect the instructor to check the process at more than one point along the way. It's a slower appointment in exchange for a closely supervised one.
